| BHG can assist your staff in the preparation
and administration of public and private grants. We have a
database of various government agencies and foundations that
award grants for capital expenditures, research and operations.
Our consultants can help you identify grant-funding opportunities
and prepare the application. When your grant application is
approved, we can work with your team to conduct the project
and provide project management services. Additionally, we
can serve as grant administrators to track the cash flows
and maintain the required documentation for the project.
Previous Grant Awards
BHG received one of three grants to conduct an external review
of the public mental health system. In 1996, the Ohio Department
of Mental Health in collaboration with the National Alliance
for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) Ohio established Consumer Quality
Review Teams (CQRT) to provide an external assessment of the
publicly funded mental health system in the State. These teams,
consisting of consumers, family members and mental health
professionals, obtain information from three different perspectives
by interviewing consumers, family members and mental health
providers about their experiences in the mental health system.
Multi-year CQRT survey data were analyzed and the results
were distributed to ODMH, County ADAMH Boards, mental health
provider agencies, consumers, family members and other system
stakeholders.
In FY 2000, ODMH announced the availability of funds to the
counties with CQRTs to fund systems improvement/enhancement
projects based on the CQRT findings. BHG applied for and received
a grant from ODMH in the amount of $161,850 to address improvements
in care delivery identified through client interviews conducted
by the Consumer Quality Review Team (CQRT). The grant was
used to purchase computers and printers for selected provider
agencies and to develop a web site for BHG member Boards featuring
client and family educational materials and information about
local services. The program also included Internet access
and links to regional and national sites for information related
to mental health and substance abuse. The service will be
maintained jointly by BHG and the providers who accepted placement
of a computer.
The work of the CQRT now continues under the direction of
Quality Review Services,
Inc., a non-profit organization of consumers and mental
health professionals.
