| BHG promotes synergy and collective voice
on issues impacting the availability,
quality and cost of mental health and substance abuse services
locally and across Ohio.
Ohio's publicly funded mental health system has worked to
design a more rational use of public resources in an environment
of increasing service demand, increasing quality expectations,
and increasing accountability procedures. Concurrently, there
have been additional and continuous pressures to implement
Medicaid management controls mandated by the legislature.
BHG members have taken an active role and will continue to
participate in the process of shaping policy around the key
factors influencing the quality and value of Ohio's community-based
system of behavioral healthcare. Members continue to work
with consumer and family groups, providers, and other Boards
and Board Associations to reach consensus on primary quality
issues such as access and core capacities, consumer and family
education and rights, payment methods, procurement and provider
selection, utilization management, and others.
