The membership of Behavioral Health Generations
(BHG) consists of selected Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental
Health Service (ADAMHS) Boards in the State of Ohio. The ADAMHS
Boards, established through legislation passed in 1967, are
county-level organizations that function as "Local Mental
Health Authorities." They are responsible for funding,
planning and monitoring services, primarily for the severely
mentally ill, provided by more than 500 not-for-profit community
mental health agencies. Board areas across the State consist
of one to five counties, and most oversee both mental health
and addiction services provided to Medicaid and non-Medicaid
eligible consumers.
